Market Research

In class we evaluated each others outfits in groups, thinking about our purchase decisions and values when it comes to dressing ourselves. Answering the sort of questions like, what do we value in our clothing? fabric? design? reason for purchase? price? and comparing and contrasting each others outcomes. An interesting and somewhat eye opening exercise, something that interested me being a marketing student also.

This exercise was an interesting way of looking at our spending habits. We all seem to buy cheaper, trend following pieces, that we dont intend on having for a long time, and are more likely to invest in longer lasting items, especially accessories. Keeping this in mind, with my collection, I will try and have a range of price points, including investment pieces like coats, but also having more accessible items, such as t-shirts. This allows consumers to get a 'taste' of the collection, by spending a smaller amount on an item that they can mix and match with other pieces in their wardrobe.
